Chief Executive Officer
Ian joined Touch Bionics in May 2011 from surgical medical device company Mpathy Medical where he had been CEO since 2007. Between 1998 and 2007 he was employed by Optos plc, a medical technology company specializing in the imaging of the retina, firstly in the roles of CFO in Dunfermline, UK, and then from 2003 as General Manager, North America in Boston, USA. Ian is a chartered accountant who had previously worked for KPMG in both Oxford, UK and Prague, Czech Republic. Ian holds a Masters degree in Economics from Edinburgh University.
Chief Financial Officer
Jill joined Touch Bionics in May 2011 from Optos Plc, where she was Vice President and Director of Finance. She joined Optos in 2004 as Group Financial Controller. Between 2000 and 2004 Jill was Financial Controller at Spider Software, a developer of communications software. She is a Chartered Accountant and previously worked for Unisys South East Asia, Courage Brewers and Wincanton Vehicle Rentals in various finance roles.
Vice President Operations, International
Caroline has twenty years experience in the Medical Device and Pharmaceutical Industries. Prior to joining Touch Bionics, she was a member of the Executive leadership team at Ocutec, an ocular science company specializing in the development of innovative contact lens materials and manufacturing processes. Caroline previously worked for Mpathy Medical Devices, Metris Therapeutics and Ivax Pharmaceuticals in a variety of roles including Operations Director, Quality & Regulatory Affairs Director and New Products Programme Manager. Caroline holds an honours degree and PhD in Pure and Applied Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde.
Chief Technical Officer
Hugh has over 35 years experience in high technology companies in Product Design and Manufacturing. He has been a Program Manager for Polaroid and was Technical and Operations Director for Wideblue. In this role he supported a significant number of high growth companies taking their technology from concept into development, supply chain and manufacturing. Hugh graduated at Strathclyde University with a BSc with Honors in Mechanical Engineering and also has 12 patents. Hugh's product portfolio has been Tunnelling Machines, Wind Turbines, High Speed Imaging banking systems, Cameras, Printers, Machine Tools, Human Tissue Drug testing machines and Industrial cleaning machines.
Vice President Operations, North America
Melissa comes to Touch Bionics with 12 years experience working in the medical devices sector. She has experience with companies ranging across the optometry/ophthalmology, women's heath and skin cancer detection sectors. Melissa has worked with companies including Optos, Mpathy Medical and Michelson Diagnostics, and has held roles including Human Resources Manager, Director HR & Administration and Director of Operations. She has led teams in Human Resources, Central Operations and Customer Support and is registered as a Certified Professional in Human Resources by the Human Resources Certification Institute.
General Manager, International
Conal joined Touch Bionics in October 2013 from medical device manufacturer Trulife, where he held a variety of sales and marketing roles over a 10 year period. During this time, he managed direct sales forces in North America & Europe, an international distributor base across 80 countries as well as leading the global marketing function. Conal is a graduate of National University of Ireland (Galway) with a Bachelors degree in International Commerce and holds a diploma in Financial Management from Dublin Business School.
