The Importance of Therapy

Having talked about the importance of therapy in an earlier post we’ll focus on hand therapy at a deeper level in this posting.  As a couple of ASHT posters from 2016 educate:

What Can a Hand Therapist Do for Me? Hand therapists bridge the gap from medical management of upper extremity conditions to successful recovery, allowing individuals to function normally in their daily lives. Hand therapists provide non-operative interventions, preventative care and post-surgical rehabilitation for a wide variety of upper extremity disorders, from simple fingertip injuries to complex replanted extremities.”

As a leading manufacturer of upper limb prosthetic solutions, Touch Bionics understands the needs of patients with upper limb loss and deficiency.  This is why we are proud to not only offer the latest in upper limb myo-electric prosthetic devices, but also services that go along with that offering.  These services range from reimbursement to fabrication and clinical support.

At Touch Bionics we have one goal in mind - to partner with clinicians to provide clients with a solution that will help increase their function and independence in their daily lives.

We strongly believe in a comprehensive approach to client care, and work closely with prosthetists and therapists to help ensure the best possible outcomes for their clients.

As developers of prosthetic technologies, we understand the complexity of new developments in the field of prosthetics and are fully committed to providing prosthetists and therapists with the support they need to be able to ensure that their clients achieve excellent results.

We can help you to determine whether an individual is a suitable candidate for a prosthesis such as our i-limb quantumi-limb revolutioni-limb ultra, and i-digits products, or if they are better suited to a passive prosthesis like livingskin. Once you and your client have selected an appropriate prosthesis, we will be with you every step of the way to provide the training and support you need to deliver the best possible solution for that individual.

As we mentioned before, achieving successful  outcomes with myoelectric upper limb prostheses can be challenging and, without the correct training, an advanced prosthesis may ultimately be rejected .

We encourage you to take a look on the ASHT website for more information about Hand Therapy Week and the overall Importance of Therapy, and reach out to us for any help with training and support on our products.
